Based on the idea of supporting local resources, the Twenty Kilometer Jazz Diet consists of musicians who all reside in the Guelph area. On any given Thursday at manhattans pizza bistro.music club in Guelph, ON, you could catch any combination of musicians. You never know who will drop in to jam!

All the members of the group are professional musicians who make their living playing and teaching jazz music. Many of them have toured the world playing various music festivals in England, Australia, across the US and Canada. All have attended, graduated or taught at jazz programs in York University, McGill, Humber, Mohawk and University of Toronto.

Local musicians that have played with the group are Ted Warren, Brent Rowan, Jesse Turton, Adam Bowman, Jason Raso, Tyler Wagler, Stephen Zuccala, Jeff Daniels, Tom Hammerton, Ben Jokela, and Joni Nehrita to name just a few.

Tonight’s feature guest is Cam Otto.

Born in Fergus, Ontario, Canada and currently based in southern Ontario, Cam has been involved in music since a very young age. Starting first on piano before picking up the alto saxophone in middle school. He soon discovered a passion for music and points to a variety of influences ranging from modern jazz to pop music.

Cam is a graduate of both the St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia and MacEwan University in Edmonton. He has performed with groups such as the St. FX Faculty Nonet, the University of Alberta/MacEwan University Big Band, the Triage Quartet as well as artists such as Carter Lee, Chris Pruden, Rob Grieves, Jared Farney, Mike Morrisseau and Ronald Hynes.

He has also recorded with groups The Pulse and Roundhouse.
