Ross Wooldridge is a renowned Canadian jazz musician and multi-instrumentalist, mastering piano, clarinet, saxophone, and flute. From early piano lessons at age four to formal studies at Mohawk and Humber Colleges, Ross developed into a seasoned performer, arranger, composer, and teacher. His dynamic career spans decades of performance and collaboration with top jazz and pop artists, including Alex Pangman, Jaymz Bee, and the late Jeff Healey. He co-leads the traditional jazz group the Dixie Demons and heads the Galaxy Orchestra, a big band focused on swing music from the 1930s to 1950s, for which he arranges and directs.
Ross has made his mark through acclaimed tributes to Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw, delighting audiences with authentic recreations of classic swing. His work includes recording multiple albums, composing for film and stage, and producing music for various artists, such as Brenda Brown’s “Life Among Giants.” From early stints in jazz fusion and pop bands to recent projects like “In the Mood” and “Benny Meets Artie,” his contributions span a wide musical spectrum. Alongside his professional career, he remains dedicated to music education, teaching elementary band in the Toronto District School Board.
